While I’ve always sworn by the leg-elongating power of a nude heel, sometimes it’s fun to make your basics stand out a bit more and make them just a little more unique. In today’s post, I’ll be sharing how to take your basic heels and give them a glam update with a super-simple shoe refashion.
Aren’t they just so cute?
In recent shoe refashion posts, I’ve loved adding colorful poms to gladiator sandals and painting Gucci-inspired loafers, but I love the versatile, classic look of these nude heels.
This project is really so simple…. I kind of feel silly even creating a tutorial for it. But alas, sometimes simple is best and if you totally screw this one up, you can undo the project relatively easily and have your basic pumps back again. No pressure. (I like this kind of non-committal DIY)
But before we get started, you will need some basic nude heels. If you don’t have a pair (or two) of these in your closet yet, I totally recommend stocking up. A Nude heel is the ultimate goes-with-any-outfit shoe that visually elongates the legs, slims your entire silhouette, and creates an instantly chic look. Here are a few nude pumps for under $25:
You will also need two separate strings of jewelry beads, E6000 Glue, small binder clips, and 1/2″ ribbon. To keep it simple, here’s what I’ll be using to complete this shoe refashion:
First, take your two strings of beads and wrap a small section of ribbon around each one. To keep the ribbon together and flat when you’re done, apply some E6000 glue and hold in place with binder clips to dry.
Now, just apply some E6000 glue to the back of the inside heel and apply the flat section of ribbon. This should create a flush finish that will be unnoticeable and comfortable when you are wearing your new shoes. Hold the ribbon in place with a paper clip while drying to prevent slipping.
Once the glue has completely dried, it’s time to put your new shoes on! I love how this DIY added just a little bit more style and uniqueness to my basic pumps. The bast part about this project is that you can still wear them with nearly everything you would have before, but now they make a statement all their own.
To put these shoes on, you should be able to easily slide your foot through the beaded loops and into the base of your shoe. The beads add a chic drape down the front of your foot that instantly elevates anything you pair it with.
